Turning an acquisition methodology into software
AcquiMatch helps first-time buyers find, evaluate, and move forward on business acquisition opportunities. As they grew, we partnered with their team to turn a proven methodology into software that scales with them.
"Newbrain never really felt like just an agency. It felt like we added a full-time product team to AcquiMatch. I bring them my wild ideas and dreams, and they come back to me with reality in the tech. They get our business, they push the boundaries of what's possible right alongside us, and they've earned a kind of heart and trust that's so rare with a vendor. They're thought partners, and honestly an extension of our family."

Athena Simpson
Founder, AcquiMatch
A proven methodology, ready to scale
AcquiMatch's growth came from a methodology that works and a team that knows how to apply it. As demand grew, the question was how to serve more buyers without losing the personal experience clients value most. Adding headcount alone would have scaled the effort, not the experience.
Start with how the team decides
Instead of automating isolated tasks, we worked alongside their team to capture how they evaluate buyers, review opportunities, and guide clients. Then we turned that knowledge into connected systems that support matching and day-to-day decisions.
The systems we built together
Each piece works on its own and gets stronger as part of the whole.
Deal matching engine
An AI system that reviews acquisition opportunities against each buyer’s criteria and routes the strongest matches into the right workflow, so the team can focus its time on the opportunities that fit best.
Buyer intelligence workflow
An AI workflow that turns onboarding answers, transcripts, and buyer preferences into structured profiles used across the search.
Internal AI operating portal
The internal workspace where AcquiMatch manages buyer profiles, feedback, filters, users, and client workflows.
MatchMaker Pro self-service product
A lower-touch acquisition product that gives buyers access to AcquiMatch’s methodology, guided resources, deal matching, and CRM workflow.
Lady Ebetah AI agent
An AI layer that guides onboarding, structures buyer preferences, generates profiles, and helps keep the acquisition search personalized.
Market benchmark tool
A sales tool that shows how many recent acquisition opportunities match a buyer’s criteria, using real market data.
A foundation, not a set of automations
Made deal intake and matching faster and more consistent, now processing 12K+ deals a month
Captured AcquiMatch’s acquisition methodology inside software
Gave buyers a self-service path without removing guidance
Created infrastructure that can support new products, not just internal tasks
A conversation with Athena Simpson
Founder of AcquiMatch, on what changed and why it mattered.
“We can now scale in a way we simply never could with people alone.”
What was the biggest challenge or opportunity you were trying to solve before working with Newbrain?
We knew exactly where we wanted to take AcquiMatch, but a lot of how we actually ran the business was still manual and honestly kind of held together by hand. We were growing fast, and I didn't want to scale by throwing more people at the same slow work, because the thing our clients love about us is how personal it all feels.
So we needed a partner who wasn't just going to build one feature and move on. We needed someone who could help us build systems that would keep growing and getting better right alongside the business.
What specific outcomes, progress, or improvements have you seen since we started working together?
The biggest one is that we can now scale in a way we simply never could with people alone. Work that used to eat up hours of someone's day just happens quietly in the background now, and it happens the same way every single time. It lets us grow without hitting a ceiling, and even better, it frees our humans up to spend their time on the things they're truly great at, the parts of this business where people make all the difference.
A real example of what that looked like is one of our team members gave me their notice, and instead of scrambling to hire and re-train someone new, I asked Newbrain if they could rebuild that role in AI. They did, and honestly, they did it better! A person doing that job could only hold so much in their head at once, and they were pretty much at their limit. The version Newbrain built remembers every single detail, never drops a thing, and scales infinitely. So we didn't miss a beat, and our clients actually get a better experience out of it.
The other big shift is speed, going from an idea to a real working thing. We're not sitting around for months wondering whether something will work. We build it, we test it, we learn from it, and we make it better. That loop is the whole game for us, and Newbrain is a big part of why we can actually run it.
What has been the most valuable aspect of working with the Newbrain team?
For me, it's that they stay in it with us. They don't hand something over and disappear. They ask really good questions, they push back when they think there's a better way, and they're still right there as the product keeps changing. Anyone who's ever built software knows that version one is never the final version.
But the thing I value most is harder to measure. It's the heart, and the trust. That's so rare to find with a vendor, and there's honestly nothing quite like it. I see this team as thought partners and an extension of our family, and I plan to keep bringing them my big wild dreams for the foreseeable future.
If another founder or company was considering working with Newbrain, what would you tell them?
Bring them in early. Their value isn't just writing the code you asked for. They take the time to understand the actual problem you're trying to solve, and then they build the right thing, not just the thing on the ticket. They even took the time to understand our business and where we were trying to go, so they could point out better ways to get there.
If you're building something that's going to keep growing and changing, that's exactly the kind of partner you want.
How has Newbrain contributed to the development of AcquiMatch, and what impact has that had on your business?
Newbrain built the backbone that runs behind AcquiMatch, including the smarter, AI-driven pieces of it. We're a little obsessed with what's possible with technology, and they push right there alongside us. Together we've built a world-class experience, and they understand our business so well that they feel like part of our full-time team, not some outside vendor we only call when something breaks.
And beyond the tech itself, they've given me the confidence that we can keep evolving. We know we can move quickly, respond to what our clients tell us, and keep improving without tearing everything down and starting over. That changes how we build, how we launch new things, and how fast we can get truly great work into our clients' hands.
Have a process that only lives in people's heads?
That's usually where the best systems start. Tell us what's slowing you down and we'll tell you honestly whether we can help.
